We create photographs, films, and hybrid media using a variety of cameras (some new, some old) and custom editing techniques — work that draws from analog cinema, summer light, glitch art, and personal myth. Most of what comes out of the studio carries a particular feeling: warm, lived-in, sun-held, emotionally true. But the through-line isn't a single look. It's that every image is built deliberately, with tools and techniques most studios don't touch. Retainer clients aren't just booking sessions — they're reserving ongoing access to a distinctive analog-forward process and the person behind it.

Retainer plans are billed on a monthly or quarterly cycle and structured around an agreed shoot cadence, deliverable count, and turnaround window. Final details are confirmed in a custom agreement before scheduling begins. Unused sessions or deliverables do not automatically roll over unless stated in your agreement.

How It Works

Retainer clients reserve recurring creative capacity with Stranahan Media Co. on a monthly or quarterly basis. Most plans include a set shoot cadence, an agreed number of edited deliverables, planning before each session, and priority access to the calendar.

  2. We align on goals, references, and deliverables together.
  3. Shoots are scheduled within your retained cycle.
  4. Final imagery is delivered according to your plan.
  5. Additional coverage, rush edits, film stock, or expanded usage can be quoted separately.

A signed agreement and initial payment are required before scheduling begins.

Not Your Typical Session

The warmth and lived-in quality of these images isn't a filter. It's the result of working with cameras that haven't been manufactured in decades, film stocks and tapes that took real effort to track down, and editing done at the pixel and data level — frame by frame, with techniques borrowed from glitch art, data manipulation, and analog archival work.

A lot of photography work today runs through a Lightroom preset and gets called edited. The work that comes out of this studio is genuinely one-of-a-kind — not a filter, not a preset, not something you could squeeze out of an app on your phone. You'll walk away with images made by someone who genuinely cares how each individual pixel sits — because they were. For clients who need cleaner, higher-resolution results, a small selection of modern digital cameras are available on request.

Stranahan Media Co. is a portrait studio devoted to the feeling of memory. We create visuals that feel sunwashed, intimate, and lived in — shaped by warm light, analog sensitivity, and the quiet mythology of ordinary moments. Our work draws from film, Super 8, and digital photography alike, but the goal is always the same: to create photographs that feel less like files and more like keepsakes.

The Stranahan approach begins with the person, not the preset. We study how someone moves, what light loves about them, which colors feel native to them, and how a scene can be built around their presence.
